Susan Shelton
Susan Shelton, a native Northern Virginian received her B.S. Degree
at Virginia Tech in Management, Housing and Family Development, from
the College of Home Economics. Her true desire was to become a
dietician however circumstances steered her studies to the more
consumer oriented degree.
Since graduation, Susan’s focus has been on customer service positions.
She served 6 years as the Director of Marketing/Advertising for
Albertsons where she handled the marketing, as well as print, radio, and
television advertising for 14 retail stores in New Mexico. Her
marketing experience at Albertsons prepared her for the next 15 years in
professional meeting management where she worked with both client-based
and member-based organizations and earned her designation as a Certified
Meetings Professional.
In
1999, she took her entrepreneurial spirit one step further and started
SBS Enterprises. Susan created an environment where she
could incorporate many of the skills and experiences she’d been exposed
to throughout her career. Her initial venture was SBS Promos, which is
celebrating eight successful years of service in the DC metro area.
Here she works with her clients to promote their image through
promotional products, business gifts, identity apparel, and employee
incentives. She specializes in the meetings industry and still does
occasional meeting planning consultation.
Susan never lost her desire to work in nutrition. In 2003, having
created a successful business, she was finally able to expand her focus
and began to study her life-long interest of nutrition. In 2004 she
became a preferred customer of Usana Health Sciences. Personal
successes and successes for family and friends led her expand SBS
Enterprises to incorporate becoming an Independent Associate of Usana
where she now educates her customers on nutritional supplementation.
Susan is strong believer in networking and is active in BNI (Business
Networking International), and AMPS (the Association of Meeting
Professionals), as well as strong supporter of the WBIS and the Women’s
Business Center of Northern Virginia. Susan has also been active on
the Board of the Fairfax County 4-H Association for nine years. |
